I've been obsessed with 火の鳥 (Phoenix in English)
since they started to be release in the US a few years ago.
So far we're up to volume 7 of 13, vol.8 to be released in September,
and Vol. 9 in December.
I've been to anxious to await further releases,
so I've been (trying to) reading vol. 9-13 in the original japanese Manga.
I recently picked up a DVD of TV episodes of
火の鳥
in Japanese with (crappy) English subtitles.
but it seems that only vol. 1, 3, and 4 have been animated.
Anyone have any more info about the anime version of 火の鳥 ?
If you guys aren't familiar,
definitely pick up the US english translated Manga,
esp. vol. 4, 5, and 6.
Tezuka is most well known for Astro boy, and Kimba the white Lion,
but he also wrote a 12 volume (8 in US) series about the life of Buddha.
Check it out if you need some new Manga material...
WTF is up with the people who hate Inuyasha with at least the same passion that we love it?!

I mean, there are folks who *really* hate our favorite furry-eared character's series, as if it was the incarnation of the Anti-christ or something... :S

Even a good friend of mine (who often enjoys most Japanime w/ me) said that they percieved no difference between Inuyasha and Pokemon...

(at which point I started wretching uncontrollably, seeing absolutely no comparison - to me, that's like saying a paper airplane is the same as a 747 because they both fly through the air).

Is it just that most of the American market isn't used to grasping the subtleties of fine epic storytelling, or that most don't see the difference between "passionate art" and "production art"...?

I recently caught a thread on the Adult Swim tribe where several folks were openly blasting Inuyasha, and exalting the shows which simply afforded "stupid fun"... (not that I mind the "stupid fun" shows, myself, from time to time, but I mean... Damn!)

Being gay myself, I like the fact that Jakotsu is overtly gay (shamelessly hitting on both Maroku and Inuyasha during battle). I got fustrated with Zoysite and Malicite during the SailorMoon craze, there's just something abhorently wrong with closeted gay cartoon characters, I insist they be openly gay.

It's too bad that Jakotsu is a villian character. It would be really cool if there was an anime that had gay-male good guy characters. Sailormoon had Uranus and Neptune as lesbian characters, but being male myself, I would really like to see more guy/guy type characters. I've heard of animes called Fake and Eden, anyone know anything about them or any other type of animes with gay male characters.

I suppose it's my own desire to see characters that I can better relate to, and who reflect my own walk of life; especially to see such characters in anime.

I must have missed the episodes where (I'm assuming) was the final showdown with Naraku... So now I'm back to following it with the Band of 7 as the main antagonists...

The last I had heard, Inuyasha, Sesshomaru, and Khoga were all on their way to Naraku's castle...

Then I blinked and it's now the Band of 7 - so shoot me... So, wtf happened? It's absolutely killing me... (see, now I'm gonna HAVE TO get the whole series on DVD - any suggestions on the best source for them, while I'm at it?)

Thanks folks - you're saving another fan's life here, cuz' this is killin' me... :S LOL!

So far series 1 had Inuyasha and Kagome, and there were three versions of Inuyasha--one with an open mouth, one with a closed mouth, and his pissed-off mode (when the demon blood takes over) that came packaged with a bookcase containing vol. 19 of the manga.

Everybody sees that "weird riding contraption" she rides, and I just can't help but think somebody's gonna see that and invent the bicycle a few hundred years early. And with all that junk food she brings back for everybody, does she keep track of the litter they leave behind? 'Cause you know somewhere down the line somebody will find that laying around.

And how does she always arrive in one point of time or the other at that precise time of day? Like she'll leave one era at a certain time of day, and arrive in the other era at the same time. I just can't help but think that if she goes back to the feudal era and spends time there and comes back, it would be like she would return at the same moment that she left.

It had a bunch of sketches and screenshots of the various characters and what looked like a little encyclopedia of the various demons than Inuyasha and the gang run across. It's also got an episode guide of (I'm guessing) the first two seasons.

My friend asked me to help her out and that's why I'm posting. What I'm really trying to say is if you could please read her fanfiction? She's a newbie so please don't flame her too much. She's quite sensitive but she accepts constructive criticism. It's an Inuyasha fanfic so I'm inclined to think that you guys would at least be a bit interested. Please?

Thanks!
